Carlsbad Caverns, NM

Today we did the Carlsbad Caverns.  OMG were they AMAZING!  Can't remember when we walked so much, but we did both caverns and the Kings Palace tour which was just so beautiful.  It's amazing that we were under ground 800 FEET!  Every time we thought we'd seen the best there was we'd go around another curve and there would be some other spectacular display.  We walked (up hills and down) from 9:30 to 4:30 and then hung out in the parking lot in the RV, had dinner and went back for the bat flight.  Unfortunately that was a little bit of a disappointment, but still amazing to see.  I expected there to be more bats coming out at one time, but still pretty cool to see the swallows fly around before sunset and then enter their nests in the caves just before the bats make their exit.  The ranger did a good job of keeping us entertained and informed about bats until they decided to make their exit.  Kudo's to the park service, they really do an excellent job.

Next stop Roswell, NM to visit the aliens
