Butchart Garden's and Sidney
We had another incredible day today. We rented a car this morning and headed out to Butchart Gardens and to explore the surrounding area on that side of the island. I remember being there over 40+ years ago and it's still as outstanding a place as I've ever seen. It's encouraging that someone can take something as ugly as a quarry and turn it in to something so incredibly beautiful. I remember seeing a picture of Mrs. Butchart sitting on scaffolding on the side of a cliff in her long black dress pushing flowers in crevices. The gardens were AMAZING! This island is absolutely lovely and the flowers, not just at Butchart, but around individual homes and businesses are striking. The RV park, Fort Victoria, is really quite nice, the managers very friendly and helpful and the sites are spacious. Tomorrow we head off to Victoria to explore that area.
