I forgot to mention yesterday that driving along Route 3 in Canada kept making us think of driving through Germany or Austria. The countryside is so similar and the mountains really do look like they could be the Alps. Wait until you see some of the photos! While whizzing along the road at 50 MPH I also got a picture of a young colt scratching his ear with his right hind leg....while standing! What a shot! AND, I was taking a picture of a pretty herd of cows in a pasture, but when I uploaded the photos last night to my laptop I was amazed to see that a steer was getting "REAL FRIENDLY" with one of the cows. Quite the surprise for me and makes me realize my new camera is pretty darned fast!
Just a soon as we have an early night...with wifi...I will try and upload pictures. I am far behind and there's so much we want to share with you.
Added to lessons we've learned:
#13. Route's 14, 12 and now 3 are the most scenic routes to take. Route 89 is also VERY scenic and the easiest route with fewer mountains to climb up and go down.
#14. When touring Yellowstone we'd highly recommend you stay at Grizzly RV Campground in West Yellowstone and rent a car. Plan at least a week if you really want to see all the high spots. With the Buffalo traffic jams and the incredible photo opps and viewing opps you can only go so far each day. Parking can be a nightmare in a motorhome. Lots more flexibility and better you make better time in a car. Would also suggest allowing a day or two to explore in other directions, like Earthquake Lake. That was an incredible 1/2 day trip, but had we known we'd have continued on to Virginia City. Lots of history in that area. You need one day just to explore West Yellowstone. So...maybe plan 10 days!
We're just getting ready to head off to Vancouver. Looking forward to that and ferry ride to Vancouver Island and Victoria.
