Bryce to Salt Lake City

Leaving Bryce we took the Scenic Route 12 which we have been told is in the top 10 of National Geographic's list of scenic roads in America.  It was absolutely breathtaking (not to say it wasn't a little white knuckle again for driving or about 80 miles out of our way), but what an over view you got of the Canyon Lands below.  We got pretty high up in altitude (over 9,000 ft) so saw a lot of Aspen's just starting to bloom.  The contrast of the Aspen's and the Pines was really stunning.  As we were leaving Bryce we went through Red Canyon, Kodachrome Basin State Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and ended up spending the night at Anastazi State Park.  It's such an amazing area you just find yourself being awestruck at almost every turn.  We wondered what the Pioneer's thought when they got here and knew they had to get beyond here to go wherever they were headed.  I think I'd of turned back!
Add to our "Lesson's Learned":  We would have been smart to plan about a week in this area and set up a home base and rented a car for touring.  There really is so much to see and to do it justice you need to take time to hike around and get back in to these amazing places, instead of just seeing it from the road.
The trip to Salt Lake from Anastzi was almost boring after all the drama of the last week, but not really.  We saw more and more snow on the mountain peaks and luxurious farm lands and cattle ranches.  Salt Lake is a great City and we are quite happy with the KOA.  This morning we took a bus tour of the City and that was a great way to see a lot in a short period of time.  Part of the tour included lunch and a half hour organ concert at the Morman Tabernacle.  That was pretty awesome!  When we returned we spent the afternoon re-organizing and preparing for the colder weather we're sure we'll start to get in tomorrow or the next day.  Had to dig out our warm clothes and pack up the shorts, etc..
