We almost stayed put because of the heavy storm that was covering everything south to north of the U.S., but when we noticed we'd be driving out of the storm we took off and made it to our next overnight stop at the Tyler Texas State Park. Nice area on a big lake. Loaded with families in for Mother's Day weekend. You can fish without a license here and they'll even provide you with some equipment if you need it. Sadly, we didn't take the time to catch anything, but on the way to the park we did stop at a VERY GOOD Texas BBQ place and got some incredibly good eats for dinner last night and ribs for another night along the way.
I realized last night that I really need to go back and tell you more about a couple of stops, especially the Vicksburg National Cemetery and why you should definitely make it a STOP if you travel through this way. Will do that when we are somewhere for more then an overnight stop....and have internet service.
Off now to Vernon, Texas. No doubt about it, Texas is a big state to cross! Going to take us as long as it did to get out of Florida!!
So glad the Vicksburg stop proved to be interesting. The pics are really fun because we stopped where you stopped, next to the house where the family hid in the caves and the original owners are buried behind it. There is something sobering about the park and knowing the history. Safe travels, miss you, lani
